“Age group swimming builds a strong foundation for a lifetime of good physical and mental health by teaching time management, self-discipline and healthy fitness habits.”
Level 5

Objective:
Athletes continue to consolidate their stroke skills to gain maximum speed. Swimmers work with their coach to develop a training plan that will allow them to achieve peak performance for specific Swim Meets. Drills, interval and strength training continue the focus on building stamina, endurance, and meeting time based goals. Athletes are expected to be swimming over 15,000 yards per week.

This is the highest level at the club for swimmers who have made a serious commitment to the sport.

Age & Entry:
by Coach placement.

Expectations:
Swimmers will:

  • Take their potential seriously
  • Take responsibility for their attitude and performance
  • Continue to advance their skill level in the four competitive strokes, and associated turns, starts and pull-outs
  • Achieve time and distance based goals
  • Put emphasis on interval training and drills
  • Commit to a regular dry land strength training schedule twice a week, in addition to pre-training stretching
  • Strive for an even higher precision of stability and efficiency in the water
  • Display team cohesion and leadership skills
  • Develop deeper understanding of aerobic and anaerobic training
  • Mandatory Swim Meet attendance

Advancement: As a swimmer develops, coaches can offer advice about how to take the sport further.
