To switch the focus from core skills to interval training, with measured performance against the clock, and increased yardage. Athletes are expected to be swimming over 10,000 yards per week.

Age
& Entry Requirements:
Coach Placement

Description:
This is a transitional level in skill and age based assessment. Swimmers will:

  • Continue to advance their proficiency in the four competitive strokes
  • Further development of IM and relay skills
  • Streamline
  • Basic skills of racing entries, pull-outs & turns. (block training takes place off-island or in the summer)
  • Interval training
  • Continue to develop dry land stretching and strength exercises
  • Strive for a higher efficiency in the water
  • Compete in regular Swim Meets

Swim Meets:
Swimmers are expected to compete in meets throughout the session, as they are a key part of the training cycles.

Advancement:
This level has an ability-based increase of yardage. Advancement will require achievement in skill, natural growth and personal commitment.
