| 1) The Cross Sound Relay will take place at S. Kitsap HS on Saturday March 22nd.
2) Start time is 1:30pm. Swimmers will need to be there early to get changed, showered and in their lanes 5 minutes before start time. You will need to be on the 12:05 ferry to Southworth to be there on time.
3) Lap counters will need to be in place 5 minutes before the start time. Each team will need to supply 2 lap counters to record the total amount of lengths swum by each swimmer on each team. The club will supply clipboards, counting forms and pens. There will be a short on-deck orientation for lap counters at 12:40pm to run through any questions.
4) Relay teams will swim for 2 hours until 3:30pm.
5) Each team will try to swim as many yards as possible in that time. Pledges raised by each swimmer are for the total amount of lengths swum by their team, not just the individual.
6) Level 1 swimmers will swim 25 yards per swimmer.
Level 2 Swimmers will swim 50 yards per swimmer
Level 3-5 Swimmers will swim 100 yards per swimmer
7) The swimmers can swim any stroke they like.
8) Swimmers can dive in, jump in or start in the water, but must ensure that the incoming swimmer touches the wall before they leave.
9) While the object is to swim as far as possible in the time, the swimmers can take a short rest, or allow another swimmer on their team to take their turn.
10) Swimmers will be notified of their length count and total team tally as soon as the results have been collated and verified. Coaches will need to sign the pledge forms to confirm the distance swum, so that swimmers can collect their pledges.
11) All monies need to be handed in to the club before April 1st. There is a special collection box in the tall on-deck locker. Please leave your pledges there, along with the pledge form, all clearly marked with your swimmer’s name.
Following the Cross Sound Relay, the pool will be opened up for a family swim.
We will aim to get the 5:10pm ferry back to Vashon, and meet up in The Rock for Pizza and awards. To avoid complications and confusion, we ask that swimmers order their own Pizzas.
