Volunteer involvement is crucial to the VAC and parents play key support roles. We always need volunteers to help with swim meets, coordinate social events and organize fundraising. In joining the Vashon Aquatic Club, parents commit to volunteer time to help with Club activities.
Volunteering is a great way to get involved, meet other families and be a positive role model for your swimmer. Many swim parents develop long-term friendships and enjoy the family-like atmosphere that develops when people work together. Working at a swim meet can be a lot more fun than sitting in the stands! Additionally, when children see their parents devoting time and energy to help the team, he or she understands that team loyalty is important and worthwhile.
Every family is expected to provide time help each session. Throughout the year, there are a number of social events, fundraising and other activities that depend upon short-term parent involvement. Our executive and at-large board members are parents who have made a long-term commitment to the club, but they can not take on the entire work load.
